How to Recover Files from Flash Drive
There is question about USB Flash Recovery on Mac from Apple discussions website. The user's question is as below:
I recently had to take some notes on another Macbook and to move it onto my own Macbook I used a USB flash drive. I inserted into my own Macbook but nothing happened. I make sure to double-check that a disk has been unmounted before unplugging it every time - and it wasn't showing up in finder nor did it show up on the desktop, so I unplugged it. When I plugged it in again it showed up, but was empty - or at least it seemed. The files were still there (I could tell by the amount of space left on the drive) but nothing was to be seen. I've noticed whenever I plug in a larger drive that spotlight has to index it - perhaps it was doing that when I unplugged it.
Anyway, the question goes: My USB flash drive is showing up when I plug it into my Macbook but there is no files to be seen, is there a way to restore files on Flash Drive?

USB Flash Drive
A USB flash drive is a data storage device that includes flash memory with an integrated Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface. USB flash drives are typically removable and rewritable, and physically much smaller than a floppy disk. USB flash drive or any other flash memory drive is basically an EEPROM that means "Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory". USB flash memory sticks are nothing but an assembly of EEPROM, a controller with a RISC microprocessor, RAM and ROM. All of this interacts with a computer using a USB controller and connector. UBS thumb drives normally don't require drivers but with few old operating systems like Windows 98 and Windows 95 you need drivers that are provided by the manufacturer. Latest OS consider USB drives as USB Mass storage devices and have built in support for these drives that means you don't need any drivers just plug in the drive and start using it.
