Mac Data Recovery: Create an External Boot Drive Now
You never think about Mac data recovery until disaster strikes. Then you need to figure out Word document recovery, and Excel recovery. We may consider Mac drives to be eco-friendly, in that they reuse the same storage space when it’s no longer being used. If you have system 10.6 or earlier, it’s as simple as installing the Mac system disks onto the drive.
If you have 10.7 or later, you’ll want to connect to the internet, use the OS X installer after logging in with Apple user id and password, and install the OS X onto the external drive.
Once your external drive is ready, you can use it as not only a backup drive for your main computer, but as an external boot drive too.
In the event of loss Mac files, connect your external drive and boot up from that drive to be able to access the files on the troublesome computer.
